There is sometimes a fine line between consensual sexual activity and inappropriate behavior. This line can get blurry when two adults -- who are able to consent -- are involved in the incident. Sometimes in cases like these, criminal charges can follow. While someone is facing allegations of sex crimes, the evidence may come in the form of he said, she said testimony.
A seasoned performer with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival was recently charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sex abuse following an incident with another adult. According to police, the 54-year-old man was involved with a female adult in consensual sexual behavior. However, police say that at some point during this incident, the man's actions turn deviant and the actions became unwanted.
Therefore, following the incident the man was arrested on the charges and taken to Jackson County Jail. The man is currently in jail on a $1 million bond while he awaits his next hearing in late February. The man has no history of felony charges in Oregon.
Even allegations of sex crimes can create difficult situation in a person's life. In this case, the OSF has already announced that it is trying to find a replacement for the man -- who has been with the group for 19 seasons. Employment problems are just one of many areas of a person's life that can be effected. People may also suffer a social stigma and other damage to their reputation.
However, it is important for everyone to remember that a person who is facing any type of felony charge should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. People have the right to defend their actions and tell their side of the story -- especially in cases where it is one person's word against another's.
