Car crash leads to DUII charges for Oregon man

Oregon has many laws involving drivers. When people choose to get behind the wheel of a car, they are agreeing to follow these rule or face penalties. Everything from how fast people can drive, to how closely they can follow another vehicle is regulated to try and avoid accidents.

The riskier a behavior is, the higher the penalties a person can face for breaking the rules. Drunk driving, therefore, has severe consequences. Criminal charges for drunk driving can affect a person's long-term and short-term future.

A 32-year-old Oregon man could face these penalties after a recent car accident. The accident occurred as he was trying to negotiate a curve in the road. According to reports, the man lost control over his vehicle and caused the car accident around 8 p.m. Police claim that the man hit another car, causing both vehicles to roll.

Following the accident, the 32-year-old man and a passenger in the other car had to seek medical attention. After the man was treated for his injuries, police arrested him and charged him with DUII, recklessly endangering another and reckless driving.

There are serious penalties for a drunk driving conviction, especially when another person is hurt by the alleged drunk driver. These penalties can include jail time, large fines, a license suspension, an ignition interlock device and more.

People who are facing drunk driving charges should be aware of their legal rights. There are criminal defense methods available that can help to mitigate the charges. In some cases, people may even be able to avoid criminal penalties altogether.
