Salem Police Department arrest 10 in major drug bust

There are several possible serious charges when it comes to illegal drugs. Individuals in Oregon could face allegations following a search of their home, vehicle or person. If it is determined that an accused offender is involved in a drug operation, it is likely that multiple people will be charged. Additionally, this also likely means that a large quantity of drugs was recovered and other evidence indicates that the defendants charged with a drug crime are in the business of manufacturing, selling or distributing an illegal substance.

According to recent reports, the largest drug bust in Mid-Valley history recently took place. This bust resulted in the arrest of 10 people and the seizure of 10 pounds of heroin, 14 pounds of methamphetamine, two pounds of cocaine, 15 guns, seven vehicles and $467,000 cash.

Seven search warrants were served by the Salem Police Department, which resulted in seven arrests. The following day, three additional search warrants were served, which resulted in the arrest of three others. Following a two-month investigation, Salem investigators believe that this recent bust led to the arrest of individuals throughout the drug supply chain, some that are fairly close to the top. Those arrested face a variety of drug charges, which include delivery, possession and conspiracy to deliver.

Drug busts often involve various search warrants and arrest warrants. If these are not properly attained or executed, this could prevent some or all of the evidence collected from being admitted. If a court determines that the officers illegally collected the evidence, a defendant could use that information to dismiss the case against them.

Facing a drug charge likely means facing serious penalties such as prison time and a hefty fine. Therefore, it is important to initiate the best possible criminal defense when facing these kinds of charges.
