This has recently happened to famous Portland chef, Jennifer Louis. Chef Louis has risen to fame for her many culinary endeavors, including the restaurant Lincoln, which she started with her husband. Apparently, the couple has seen happier times in their 12-year marriage and is in the process of divorcing.
Recently, police were called to Lincoln following an alleged domestic assault situation. Police say that Louis' husband claims that she punched him in the face and left. When police arrived, they questioned both the husband and the wife. Following the statements from each individual, Louis was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence assault charges. She was eventually released from police custody without bail.
Louis has not commented on the alleged incident. However, her husband said that he was fine and not further injured other than the punch to his face.
Misdemeanor charges, like these, can be very serious. They can have long-lasting repercussions for individuals in Oregon. People facing similar charges can have the charges go on their criminal record, face fines, jail time and other penalties. Therefore, it is important for individuals facing these types of charges to understand their criminal defense options. In certain circumstances, it may be possible for people to clear their name and see the charges against them dropped. This can be particularly important in he-said, she-said situations where false accusations can be commonplace.
