Prosecutors won't bring charges against woman

Criminal investigations are supposed to help Oregon police determine how a particular incident took place. They can also help police uncover illegal activity. In many cases, a criminal investigation will result in criminal charges for one or more individuals.

During an investigation, police have a lot of options at their disposal. However, they also have rules and regulations that must be followed as they try to figure out a situation. Furthermore, Oregon residents have legal rights that protect them from police and possibly from criminal charges. When police cannot find enough evidence against a person, prosecutors may have no choice but to forego charges and drop a case.

Recently, prosecutors have announced that they will not bring criminal charges against either party following an altercation between a car driver and bicyclist. According to reports, a 29-year-old woman was accused of swerving into a bicyclist to intentionally hit him in a moment of road rage. Police claim that the 47-year-old bicyclist had angrily confronted the driver just moments before because she had almost hit him.

Despite the investigation, prosecutors have announced that they did not have the evidence to prove that the woman had acted recklessly in hitting the bicyclist. Therefore, they would not pursue criminal charges including charges for reckless driving, recklessly endangering another or assault.

With the right criminal defense during a criminal investigation, Oregon residents -- like the driver in this case -- can ensure that police evidence is not used against them. Without the evidence, prosecutors can have a hard time bringing charges or obtaining a guilty verdict in court.
