11 months after shooting, Portland man faces murder charge

People's criminal history can follow them for years to come after the criminal proceedings are done. A permanent criminal record can lead to problems finding employment and housing. It can also increase penalties in subsequent criminal proceedings. Furthermore, a criminal history can create suspicion by police officers and the general public should an issue arise in the future.

An Oregon man with a criminal record has been suspected for a murder that occurred 11 months ago. While police will not say why they believe the man is involved in the shooting, they have said that the 23-year-old man has a history of gang related charges and weapons charges. Recently, this man was arrested in another state on the murder charges. According to police, the man is responsible for a gang-related shooting that killed an 18-year-old man at a Northeast Portland gas station.

Reports say that the FBI was involved in his arrest. He is being held in the state where he was found. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Oregon for criminal proceedings.

Criminal proceedings are very serious when they involve felonies of any kind. Murder charges, in particular, can lead to very serious criminal penalties. In these cases, those accused need to make sure to protect their constitutional rights and avoid conviction. In addition to the social consequences that come along with a criminal record, those found guilty on felony charges can face large fines, long prison sentences, probation and more.

By evaluating the evidence against them, those accused of murder can start to poke holes into the prosecution's case. A conviction is only possible if the jury believes that a person is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. By creating doubt in a case, people can reduce the penalties.
