Oregon man arrested for fourth DUII in 3 months

With the holiday season right around the corner, a drunk driving arrest could happen to anyone in Oregon. People go out to have a good time with family and friends and lose track of how much they have had to drink. Unfortunately, it's a simple mistake with serious consequences. Those found guilty of DUI or DUII will face jail or prison time, large fines, driver's license suspension or revocation, alcohol education classes, probation and more. These punishments can make everyday tasks difficult all because of one mistake.

However, what happens when it is more than one mistake? If someone is accused of more than one DUI, the penalties will increase. When people are charged with multiple offenses, the punishments get worse and worse with each arrest. The amount of mandatory jail time and fines increase. People may be forced to use an ignition interlock device and other penalties the more frequently they face DUII charges.

Recently an Oregon man has been charged with his fourth DUII in a matter of months. According to Milwaukie police, they received reports from a resident of the Portland suburb that there was an erratic driver in the neighborhood. Following this report, police tracked down and arrested a 51-year-old man. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and driving with a suspended license. Police say this was the fourth time the man has been arrested for DUII -- he was also arrested Sept. 18, Aug. 22 and Aug. 15. He is being held in Clackamas County Jail.

Under Oregon laws, those charged with four or more drunk driving related charges can be sentenced to a minimum mandatory sentence of 18 months in prison. Furthermore, those facing four or more DUII charges are also subject to a lifetime revocation of their driving privileges.
